MQT-native and former Northern Michigan Wildcat Justin Florek scored his first playoff goal off a Red Wings turnover at 7:28 in the first period. The goal was unassisted.

Florek -- who uses the handle @justFLOrek -- then trended on Twitter. Here are some of the tweets about the hometown hero's first NHL playoff goal.

What a pace so far in Beantown. Justin Florek & Reilly Smith each have their 1st career #StanleyCup Playoff goals to make it 2-0 @NHLBruins.

Way to go @justFLOrek !!!

What a goal by Marquette native @justFLOrek! @NHLBruins up 2-0 over @DetroitRedWings in the first period. Still plenty of time left.

— Lily Zhao (@LilySZhao) April 20, 2014

First #NHLPlayoffs goal for @NMUHockey alum and Marquette alum Justin Florek. Big one for the #Bruins.

And other media and analysis:

Both goals scored by the Bruins are from former CCHA players, Reilly Smith (Miami) & Justin Florek (N. Michigan). Tons of NCAA talent here.

— Nanooks Hockey Blog (@NanookHockey) April 20, 2014

Justin Florek scores! Marquette boy is earning a nice NHL one-way contract in his contract year! Sorry Bruins, it may not be in Boston.

Jimmy Howard gives it away to Justin Florek who puts it into a wide open cage and the @NHLBruins take an early 1-0 lead
